This presentation discusses ongoing challenges in encouraging patients to maintain adherence to PrEP within the setting of a sexual health clinic. It reviews data from a sexual health clinic on PrEP counseling and consenting, includes a discussion of barriers to acceptance and engagement, and offers examples of clinical scenarios.
Donna Shulman is a registered nurse at the Monroe County STI clinic as well as the PrEP clinical services manager.
Nick Gerbino completed an undergraduate dual degree program in Anthropology and Public Health. Currently, Nick is an MSc in Public Health student at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Gerbino works with the Monroe County Health Department and the Infectious Disease Division at the University of Rochester Medical Center on health projects related to sexually transmitted infections and HIV prevention.
