Description

In this presentation, Cheryl Martin discusses the value of a motivational interviewing conversation style that creates authentic connection and the “guide posts” that support motivational interviewing conversations. She also discusses the opportunity to support adolescents as they find their own motivation to decide what is best for them. Cheryl provides tools of motivational interviewing, and focuses on motivational interview techniques for working with adolescents

Cheryl Lynn Martin MA, RN, Master CASAC, has a BSN in Nursing, MA in Psychology, and has 46 years of experience as a registered nurse. She has a Trauma Certificate from the University of Buffalo, School of Social Work. She is a Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor and a NYS OASAS Certified SBIRT trainer. Cheryl is currently working as an integrated health trainer and clinical consultant for Coordinated Care Services, Inc. in Rochester, NY. She has developed curriculum and delivered training and/or coaching to schools, human service and health care providers on a variety of topics, including: trauma and trauma responsive services; motivational interviewing; person-centered planning; parenting; co-occurring disorders; and substance use disorders.
