Andrew Cameron, PhD is a faculty member in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and is the assistant director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratories at the UR Medicine Central Laboratory. As a board-certified clinical microbiologist, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology. Dr. Cameron completed his PhD at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and completed his post-doctoral training at the University of Calgary and the Government of Canada. He also completed a fellowship in Medical and Public Health Microbiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Cameron has over ten years of experience in microbiology research, and his research interests include whole-genome sequencing and comparative genomics of bacterial pathogens, and he currently is involved in whole-genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2.
