Rosalyn E. Plotzker,MD. MPH

Rosalyn Plotzker, MD, MPH is an assistant professor in the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Rosalyn completed a fellowship in Sexually Transmitted Diseases at UCSF and the California Department of Public Health where she currently serves as a public health medical officer and clinical lead for congenital syphilis prevention and response. She also serves as clinical faculty for the California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC), which is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to educate providers on best practices in STI diagnosis and treatment. Finally, Rosalyn performs high resolution anoscopy at the UCSF Anal Neoplasia Clinic, Research and Education (ANCRE) Center and is a member of the International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS) task force on anal cancer screening guidelines. Rosalyn earned her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her MD from State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in 2013. She is board certified in Preventive Medicine and completed her residency and MPH at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York City in 2017.

  • Understand STI screening and treatment updates per the 2021 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) STI Treatment Guidelines.
  • Be able to discuss the diagnosis and management of bacterial STIs, gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis.
  • Know how to explain the diagnosis and management of viral STIs, anogenital herpes and human papillomavirus.
  • Appreciate the disease morbidity of extragenital STIs among people living with HIV.
