Description

This presentation will describe a psychological framework for understanding emotional and behavioral response to the ongoing and emerging pandemics, specifically on feelings of burn out and being overwhelmed in response to concurrent and prolonged public health crises. It will review evidence-based psychological interventions for managing stressful situations, and will discuss evidence-based, easily accessible tools and resources that can be used for ongoing support and further skill development.

Richard LeBeau,PhD
Richard LeBeau, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). A native of Rome, New York, Richard received his Bachelor's Degree from Colgate University in 2006 and subsequently worked as a clinical research coordinator in the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. In 2014, he completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at UCLA under the mentorship of world-renowned anxiety disorders expert Dr. Michelle Craske. After two years of intensive clinical training in the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Administration Healthcare System, he returned to UCLA, where he currently works as the Associate Director of Clinical Services for the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge Innovative Treatment Network in the Department of Psychiatry and as the Associate Director of the Anxiety and Depression Research Center in the Department of Psychology. His primary research focus is on disseminating evidence-based psychological interventions to under-resourced communities, with a particular focus on sexual and gender minorities. He has written over 40 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters and is currently the editor of the journal The Behavior Therapist. He also maintains a part-time private practice where he specializes in treating adults with anxiety and mood disorders.
