Description

This presentation will review the unique health needs of patients who are sex workers and/or who engage in survival sex. It will discuss how to ask questions and collect health information from these patients in ways that dignify the patient and are without judgement, and will identify the occupational hazards that exist in sex trades including, but not limited to, physical and mental health, safety, and resource access.

Aanya Wood,

Aanya Wood is the Field Educator with Evergreen Health in Western New York, where she conducts trainings for clinicians on subjects including infectious disease, sexual health, gender-affirming care, and drug user health. Prior to this, she has several years of experience doing harm reduction and HIV prevention work, specifically with sex workers, people who use drugs, and incarcerated people in Toronto, Ontario. Aanya leads an initiative to enhance access to care and services for sex workers in Western New York and is a current member of the New York State HIV Advisory Body.
