Description

This course will review the epidemiology and course of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the role of HBV reactivation among patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV). Learners will gain an understanding of the laboratory testing and diagnosis of HBV and HCV, as well as the clinical management of co-infection.

Ponni Perumalswami is an associate professor of internal medicine in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology at University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor VA Healthcare System. Her research has focused on overcoming barriers to access to care and treatment in patients with liver disease and expanding provider capacity for Hepatitis C infection.
