This presentation will describe the epidemiology and available therapies for HSV disease, along with current guidelines for treatment of HSV disease.

Tara Babu, MD, MSCI is junior faculty at the University of Washington in the department of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and is adjunct faculty in the division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She specializes in upper respiratory viral infections and has participated in multiple SARS-CoV-2 vaccine clinical trials. She additionally has interests and training in the treatment of Transplant Infectious Diseases and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Since 2021 she has been junior faculty at the University of Washington and is an attending physician at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Prior to this, from 2015-2018 she was an Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Following residency, she pursued a clinical and research fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Rochester Medical Center. During her final year of fellowship, she obtained specialized training in Transplant Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital.
