Presenter(s)

Yonina Mar,MD
Yonina Mar, MD grew up in Canada. She received her medical degree from Imperial College London in England and completed her residency training in Family Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. During her residency, an interest in inner-city health led her to receive elective training in addiction and immigrant and refugee health. Following this experience, she chose to pursue a fellowship in addiction medicine at the Addiction Institute at Mount Sinai West in New York. During her fellowship training she gained a diverse experience in multiple areas of addiction, including inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment; wrap-around primary care for substance using populations; and addiction policy, working with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene where she focused on developing guidelines for the treatment of alcohol use disorder as part of the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute Clinical Guidelines Programy. She currently works as an attending physician in one of the Mount Sinai Beth Israel opioid treatment programs in the lower east side of Manhattan and is on faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Besides clinical patient care, she is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, helping to instill an understanding and appreciation of addiction.
