Description

This course addresses the use of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention. Participants will learn to effectively communicate PEP/PrEP efficacy, conduct comprehensive pre-prescription screenings, and implement best practices for patient monitoring and management. The course also covers the latest advancements in PrEP, including emerging options like injectable PrEP, to ensure clinicians have up-to-date knowledge and skills.

Joseph P. McGowan,MD, FACP

Joe McGowan, MD is a Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, is Medical Director of the HIV Service Line Program at Northwell Health, and is board certified in Infectious Diseases and credentialed as an HIV Specialist by the AAHIVM. He received a BA degree from Columbia University (summa cum laude), MD from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and has completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases and an NIH Fellowship in Immunology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. McGowan has published over 80 original articles and abstracts dealing with HIV and AIDS.
