Jieri (Jeri) Sumitani, MMSc, PA-C, is the Director of Practice Operations at Grady Health System’s Ponce de Leon Center. Upon graduating from Emory University Physician Assistant (PA) Program in 2008, Jeri started her PA career at the Ponce Center where she quickly found her passion in HIV care. She took a hiatus from clinical medicine and moved to South Africa in 2012 where she worked with PEPFAR-funded organizations that focused on improving clinical outcomes through capacity building of healthcare providers and peer navigators in rural settings. Jeri returned to Atlanta in 2016 to rejoin the Grady Health System with the hope of translating some lessons learned from her experiences abroad to improve HIV care delivery in the US context.
