The New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute Clinical Education Initiative (CEI) is designed to enhance the capacity of New York's diverse healthcare workforce to deliver clinical services to improve health outcomes related to HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), hepatitis C (HCV), and drug user health. The aims of CEI are fourfold:
- Provide progressive HIV, HCV, STD, and drug user health education to clinicians
- Disseminate AIDS Institute clinical practice guidelines
- Expand the base of providers to diagnose and care for patients impacted by HIV, HCV, STD, and drug use
- Foster partnerships between community-based providers and HIV, HCV , STD, and drug user health specialists
