Learning Objectives / Desired Outcomes
At the completion of this educational activity, participants will:
  1. Understand the ongoing and growing need for transplantation among people living with HIV.
  2. Be aware of the current transplantation options for patients living with HIV.
  3. Appreciate the low utilization of living donor transplantation among patients living with HIV and strategies to address barriers to this option.

Presenter Bio
Sapna Mehta, MD

Sapna Mehta, MD is currently the Director of Transplant Infectious Diseases for the NYU Langone Transplant Institute and serves as the site investigator for the multicenter HOPE-in-Action clinical study- a study evaluating the feasibility and safety of HIV+ to HIV+ organ transplants. She is also the Clinical Director for the NYU Langone Transplant Institute, a role in which she helps lead the clinical operations and growth of the organ transplant programs. She is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and currently co-chair of the HIV Working Group of the Infectious Diseases Community of Practice of the American Society of Transplantation.

Continuing Education Credit

This CME activity was approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit on May 21, 2019 and will terminate May 20, 2022.

The target audience is all physicians, NPs and PAs involved or interested in HIV education.

This online video and post-activity evaluation are one hour in length.

  • After you complete the video portion of this educational activity there will be a post-activity evaluation and quiz.
  • You must achieve at least 70% correct to receive your CME certificate.
  • If successful, you will be provided instructions to print your CME certificate at the completion of this activity.
